Ochre Rock Panels
Elevate Rockport Performing Arts
Epstein Joslin Architecture, located on small winding Street in Harvard Square, was tapped by the community of Rockport (MA) to revitalize their aging concert venue, now known as the Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center.
Alan Joslin and his team did a spectacular job of rebuilding, in its original form, the historic exterior of this Rockport venue. On the interior, however, Alan envisioned a truly one of a kind experience. By designing the back wall of the performance hall as floor to ceiling glass lookout, the audience could have a remarkably intimate experience with the performing artist against a breathtaking backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
To mirror the distant granite boulders surrounding the pay, Alan called on the team at Surface Shop to create a custom blend of Ochre Blend Rock Panels to adorn the walls of the hall. The result? A concert hall covered by news publications around the world as one of the most intimate but spectacular venues to come out in decades. Bravo!
